Real life, real answers

Can I charge an electric car without a driveway?

Yes, but your running cost depends heavily on whether you can reach any off-street or lamppost charging rather than only rapids.

You can absolutely run an EV without a driveway — plenty of people do. The catch is cost. The cheap overnight rates that make EVs so cheap to run need a home connection.

If you can reach on-street or workplace AC charging, you'll pay more than a driveway but far less than relying on rapids. If your only realistic option is public rapid charging, an EV can still work for you, but the per-mile energy cost climbs sharply — enough that the savings versus petrol narrow a lot.
